Milwaukee north-side barricade ends peacefully

After a stand-off that lasted for about six hours, a man who was wanted on criminal charges for murder was taken into custody by Milwaukee law enforcement personnel. They received information on where the suspect was hiding from a tip. After arriving at the residence, the police saw the suspect leaving the residence before retreating back into the property after he realized the police were there.

One resident who lived nearby explained that police knocked on her door during the event and told her they needed any vehicles parked on the street moved to make room for police vehicles and to set up a tactical station. It appeared that the police eventually fired tear gas into the residence.

After an evacuation of everyone in the building but the suspect, negotiators managed to get him to exit the building. The situation was reported as non-violent, and no one was injured, which, along with the actions he took during the incident, could be an important aspect when defending the man's character as it relates to his accused crime.

When someone faces serious criminal charges, such as murder, the defense may seem very difficult. A criminal defense attorney can look at every angle of the case to determine a possible defense. The attorney may be able to negotiate a plea bargain with the prosecution in exchange for the man's testimony and admission of guilt, which could result in less time served. An attorney can also challenge the evidence the prosecution has against the man and whether that evidence was legally obtained.
